St. Luke’s Prestonville was opened for the first time on 11th June 1875 and we are planning to celebrate this anniversary with a number of events throughout the summer.
8th June Anniversary Celebration
10.30am Anniversary Service, followed by a community lunch and a special anniversary ceremony at 3pm with the Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex.

7.30pm in Exeter Street Hall – Herbalist Helen Jewell will give a talk as the start of the Window Boxes for St. Luke’s project to decorate Prestonville with window boxes, planters or hanging baskets including some medicinal plants as St. Luke was known to be a doctor. The classical/folk music ensemble will be in residence for the weekend with individual sound portraits on Saturday afternoon, a concert on Saturday evening and taking part in worship on Sunday morning

Writers festival – a chance to showcase some of the writers who live locally. The evening will include the launch of a new book by Revd. Martin Poole. Real Life Rev is about the daily life of the vicar of Prestonville and the joys and trials that entails.

St. Luke’s day service. The closest Sunday to St. Luke’s day (18th October) and a chance to reflect on the impact of this church on the community of Prestonville and the city of Brighton & Hove.
