Confirmation

Confirmation is a service where people who have been baptised confirm their commitment to follow Jesus. It is usually for people in their teens who were baptised when they were younger and who now wish to affirm the promises made on their behalf by parents and Godparents when they were younger but is open to anyone who wishes to make a commitment to follow Jesus.

Confirmation usually follows a short course run by the vicar or another member of the church team. Here at St. Luke’s we usually use an online resource created by the Diocese of Chichester called Inspiring Faith.

The service is conducted by a Bishop who prays for each person being confirmed and lays hands on them while praying that they may be filled with the Holy Spirit.
