Baptism (also known as christening) is a ceremony to welcome a person into the community of faith. In the Church of England this usually happens early on in a persons life but at St. Luke’s we have baptised people from the ages of 8 months to 80 years.
It’s an important way of acknowledging that someone wants to dedicate themselves or a member of their family to follow Jesus.
At St. Luke’s baptisms take place as part of our normal Sunday morning worship service at 10.30am and are a wonderful opportunity for the congregation to celebrate with the family and friends who come to support the person being baptised.
